Chief Technology Officer, Lumeria Inc.

Responsibilities

• The CTO reports to the CEO and is a key leadership position in the company.
• Provides vision and leadership in defining and implementing the company's technical strategy in support of its business obfectives.
• Oversees all technical resources in the company, directing software/hardware infrastructure, product development, QA, documentation and system operations and security.
• Directs recruiting of all technical staff.
• Evaluates and recommends options for outsourcing versus internal development as appropriate and selects and oversees vendors and contractors to supply hardware, software and services as needed.
• Keeps abreast of current technologies, determines their application to company initiatives and makes recommendations for adjusting technical and business strategy to leverage technology changes.
• Oversees management of intellectual property assets, including development and filing of patent applications.
• Works directly with subsidiary companies participating in Lumeria's business incubator to assist them in defining and implementing their technical strategies and adopting the Lumeria technology platform in their business.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a CTO or VP of Engineering or equivalent at either a public company or successful Internet start-up.
• Ph.D. or M.S. in Computer Science or other applicable degree.
• Proven experience in building and managing technical teams.Ability to manage multiple development teams, contractors and vendors.
• A comprehensive understanding of the product development process, with a record of success of delivering products or services on time and within budget.
• Deep understanding of current technology as it relates to Internet-based services, including e-mail, chat, HTML, XML, Java, Perl and C++ as well as development methodologies.
• Experience with complex databases and multi-tier application architecture used in e-commerce including Microsoft, mySQL, Informix and Oracle.
• Familiarity with data warehousing, data mining and visualization applications
• Thorough knowledge of Web server and proxy server functionality, including Apache, Netscape, and Microsoft.
